Tigran Hamasyan
The Armenian child-wonder, Tigran Hamasyan, played with his favorite toy, the piano, at age two. At age three, he was already singing Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and Queen, trying to follow on the piano. From his seventh birthday, he began improvisations using jazz elements. After his official studies, he first caught the attention of the Armenian jazz community and later won awards in Paris (2nd and 3rd place at Martial Solal), Juan-le-Pin (1st), Montreux (1st), Moscow (3rd), Monaco (1st), and first prize at the most prestige international pianist contest, the Thelonius Monk Jazz Competition. In Belgrade he will be presenting his current album “A Fable”, a successful mix of contemporary jazz and Armenian music inspiration.
