Igor Lumpert Innertextures

The leading Slovenian artist of the younger generation, saxophonist Igor Lumpert, began his career in Linz with Doug Hammond and Harry Sokal, continuing his studies at the New School in New York after a call from Reggie Workman. He soon recorded his first album “Innertextures” in the company of Robert Glasper, Boris Kozlov, Leron Thomas, Jacob Bro and Jonathan Blake. On the album “Mineral Mind” he played in a quartet with Sam Barsh, Matt Brewer, Jamire Williams. He later transfers to the trio format without using harmonic instruments. In his music he combines jazz, funk, Eastern European rhythms and neo-bop.
