Harry Sokal Groove

Saxophonist Harry Sokal is regarded as one of the greatest European followers of John Coltrane. For a long time he was a member of the Vienna Art Orchestra and the Art Farmer Quintet. He worked with legendary jazz musicians (Art Blakey, Dave Holland, Terje Rypdal, Joe Zawinul…) and made a successful solo career within various projects (trio Depart, quartet with Wolfgang Puschnig, quintet with Wolfert Brederod…). He received the Hans Koller Award for the best Austrian jazz musician in 2005. In the new trio, accompanied by the renowned organist Raphael Wressnig, he sets into the waters of soul-jazz, funk and rhythm and blues.
