featuring Peter King
DUŠKO GOJKOVIĆ 80th ANNIVERSARY
Dusko Gojkovic, trumpeter, flugelhornist, composer, arranger and conductor, is the most famous name of Serbian jazz of all time. He has been living and working in Germany since 1955. He studied at Berklee College in Boston. His greatest arrangements include: the Albert Mangelsdorf ensemble (1955), International Youth Big Band (1958), The Kenny Clarke-Francy Boland Big Band (1960s), ensembles with Sal Nistic and Slide Hempton and orchestras of Max Greger, Kurt Edelhagen, Maynard Ferguson and Woody Herman. He led YU All Stars Big Band, the Trumpets and Rhythm Unit, YU Export Jazz Stars and numerous smaller groups. The profuse use of folklore in his work made him the father of Balkan jazz. He recorded over 150 albums, of which 50 are under his name. With his seventh performance at the Belgrade Jazz Festival (a record for itself), we celebrate his 80th birthday. He will be accompanied by Big Band RTS and eminent guest, saxophonist Peter King.
