Cristina Branco

Cristina Branco

One of the leading interpreters of fado, the Portuguese singer Cristina Branco, as a teen listened to Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Janis Joplin and Joni Mitchell. For her 18th birthday, her grandfather gave her an album of Amalie Rodrigues. Branco has had an active discography since the end of the nineties. The contract with Universal production opened the doors for an impressive international career. On her latest (tenth) album “Nao Ha So Tangos Em Paris” (“Fado Tango”), she comes out of the box of classical fado, offering an interesting mix with Argentine tango, French chansons, Cuban bolero and jazz ballads. It presents an exiting journey from Buenos Aires, via Lisabon, to Paris.
